Last Friday, March 21st the shortlist for the annual Media Awards was announced, sending hundreds of Media people flocking to the site anxiously checking if their submission made the cut. The announcement came following weeks of deliberation by the small army of judges from all areas of Media. This year had a record amount of over 270 submissions in what will be the fourth year of the awards.
We’re absolutely delighted to be shortlisted alongside our colleagues in Medialink in the Sales Team of the Year category. We were however surprised to be joined by 15 others, maybe it’s an ‘everyone‘s a winner’ type category or perhaps the judges were a bit indecisive! We don’t mind either way and wish all our competitors the best of luck……honestly!
Spotify has been shortlisted in two categories, Media Brand of the Year and Best Collaboration between Agency and Media Owner for the Out of Home campaign Starcom planned with PML. We’ll be keeping everything crossed that it comes out top in both categories, we might be biased but we think it’s awesome!
I’ve been fantasising about that #winning moment, don’t lie you know you’ve all thought about it. Aren’t the Media Awards our equivalent of the Oscars? I don’t think I could look as elegant or iconic as Jennifer Lawrence if I took a tumble up the steps however! I’d like to think I could think of something funny to say just like J Law; ‘I beat Meryl’ I’d declare triumphantly with our award high in the air. I could pull a Matthew Mcconaughey ‘Alright, alright, alriiiight’ and start a Twitter trend or I could fall back on the old reliable and thank my colleagues, Mum and God. Wouldn’t it be great if someone stormed the stage in a tantrum like Kanye West when the highly anticipated Agency of the Year winner is announced? In reality there will be no acceptance speeches, no red carpet, no Dior gowns and everyone will be very polite. I will be taking plenty selfies with the who’s who of Media, I just won’t expect it to go global like Ellen’s infamous picture!
The Media Awards takes place next Thursday, April 3rd in the Doubletree by Hilton (the Burlo to you and me).
